Workplace Care

There's no arguing that computers are a necessity in today's business world, but, unfortunately, they are also a potential liability.

An increase in computer usage and time spent sitting at a desk has lead to an increase in muscle aches/pains characterized as R.S.I. or repetitive stress injury.

As we type throughout the day, our hand muscles are busy hitting keys and moving the mouse, causing excessive wear and tear on those muscles. All of this stress can lead to microtrauma, small injuries that can get worse over time.

Because these small injuries are not as noticeable at first, you will frequently reinjure yourself.

Don’t just take our word for it.

Injuries in the workplace

The three most common types of pain that occur in the workplace are:

  •  Wrist pain

  •  Low back pain

  •  Neck/shoulder pain

The body responds to these microtraumas by forming fibrous adhesions, or scar tissue in the muscle, between muscle groups and between the tendons, nerves and ligaments. These fibrous adhesions limit the range of motion of muscles and joints. This can lead to more inflammation and the pattern becomes a vicious cycle of long-term wear and tear.

What were once just minimal, dull aches can progress into:

  •  Headaches

  •  Rotator cuff disorders

  •  Sciatica

  •  Carpal tunnel syndrome
