Keep Your Mind at Ease: How to Alleviate Pre-Natal Headaches

Headache

Your body isn’t the only thing taking a toll during your pregnancy. Your mind is constantly trying to balance hormonal changes on top of any daily anxiety you might be experiencing. The best thing you can do for yourself and your baby is taking the time to take care of yourself. The Next Level Wellness team wants you to take a deep breath and start with these techniques to soothe your mind.

Hydrate

It’s extremely important that you drink enough fluids during your pregnancy. Dehydration can cause headaches, overheating, and various complications such as inadequate breast milk production. To keep yourself hydrated, make sure to drink at least 8-12 glasses of water a day. It can also help to avoid caffeinated beverages, strenuous exercise, and spending a lot of time in a hot environment.

Practice Relaxation Techniques

Headaches can stem from many things, but one of the biggest factors is stress. Take some time each day to do deep breathing exercises. The slow inhale and exhale of your breath calms your body, reduces your blood pressure, and can relieve body aches and pains. If you find that you need extra guidance and support, sign up for a pre-natal yoga or meditation class near you. It’s amazing how quickly you’ll feel the effects of clearing your mind and restoring your body.
