Ring In The New Year With A Healthy Start

Wine Glass

A new year symbolizes a new beginning; a fresh start. But you don’t have to wait until midnight on Sunday to start implementing good health practices for 2018. Our Next Level Wellness team wants to help you feel your best when you’re celebrating on New Year’s Eve! Here are three ways to keep your body feeling its best even while you’re enjoying some bubbly.

Drink Plenty of Water

When you’re dehydrated, your entire system gets thrown off. You’ll start to experience fatigue, headaches, or dizziness. In order to prevent these symptoms and for your body to work properly, be sure to drink at least 16 ounces of water throughout the day. Once you do, you’ll be able to feel a huge difference in your mood and energy levels. By keeping your body hydrated before, during, and after your New Year’s Eve party, you’ll be enabling your body to take care of itself. No matter how much you plan to drink, a good rule of thumb is to have a glass of water in between each alcoholic beverage you consume. This keeps your body balanced, hydrated, and able to function properly.

Exercise In The Morning

When we exercise, our body naturally produces endorphins. By starting out your morning with a simple exercise routine, you’ll automatically be setting yourself up to feel good throughout the day. Morning exercise not only improves your mental energy, but it also enhances your metabolism as well. Whenever you eat, your body can do 1 of 3 things with the calories you take in: take it as an energy source, use it to replenish your body, or store it for later. When you work out in the morning, the meals you throughout the day fall under the second category of replenishing your body.

Plan Ahead

Before you head off to your celebrations, make sure to map out in your mind how much you’re going to eat and drink. This is a simple, yet effective, way to help prevent you from overindulging. If you find that you’re having a hard time sticking to the plan at the party, take a moment to breathe and relax. Picture how you’re your mind and body will feel if you keep with the plan.
