A Chiropractor in Irvine debunks 4 myths
There have been numerous studies that clearly show that in certain kinds of pain and injuries, a chiropractor can do the same or a better job compared to doctors or drugs in bringing relief. However, may people still refuse to go to chiropractors because of the bad reputation that they seem to have. There seem to be many negative chiropractor myths that have been spread around that discourage people from visiting their local chiropractor in Irvine.
Today, we are here to break those myths and really encourage you to give us a try.
Here are the myths of a Chiropractor in Irvine.
1. Spinal Adjustments are extremely painful- Chiropractors are most well-known for being able to perform a procedure called spinal adjustment, and of course, it follows that there is this myth that spinal adjustments hurt like crazy. We have to admit that upon hearing of the term, we initially thought it would be a painful thing too. Adjusting your back does sound like an intimidating and painful thing to do. We’re so relieved to report that we were proven wrong by our chiropractor. Spinal adjustments are not painful! In fact, the contrary is true. Many patients experience instant relief after getting a spinal adjustment. However, spinal adjustments aren’t for all. If the patient is experiencing severe bouts of back or neck pain, then he should expect discomfort should he ever try a spinal adjustment.
2. Chiropractors have no formal education; especially compared to doctors- Another unfair myth that has been widely spread is that supposedly chiropractors are not educated in the in craft, which means they do not know what they are doing. This is so far from the truth. Before a chiropractor gets his license to practice, he has to undergo rigorous education and training. A chiropractor is required to complete 4 years of regular college and another 4 years of Chiropractic College. In this time, chiropractors learn about anatomy, physiology, neurology, pathology and radiology. After a chiropractor graduates, he also to have an internship involving patients. Lastly, before they become certified practitioners, chiropractors have to pass the National and State Board examinations.
3. Chiropractic is not scientific- Again, this is grossly untrue. Chiropractors, in their mission to give their patients the safest and most effective remedies have to continue to conduct scientific studies. These studies are made in order to improve diagnostic methods, as well as treatments for patients. Look in any library and you will easily find documented scientific trials performed by chiropractors.
4. Chiropractors only work on the skeletal system – This is completely false also.
