4 Ways to Eliminate Overnight Back Pain

Do you suffer from back pain first thing in the morning? Do you find it difficult to sleep through the night because of the pain? These tips can help you sleep through the night and wake up pain free.

Retire Your Old Mattress

Much of the back pain people experience at night is caused by an old mattress. Worn out mattresses are not supportive enough for the spine, causing discomfort throughout the night. Investing in a new medium-firm mattress may correct the problem right away.

Slow It Down

It is important to take time to ease into your day before hopping out of bed. Set your alarm a few minutes earlier so you can take the time to move slowly first thing in the morning. Your muscles will be tight from sleeping and need time to warm up properly.

Place Your Pillow

Depending on whether you sleep on your side or back, you can place a pillow to better support you through the night. For back sleepers, place a pillow under your knees to take some of the pressure off of your lower spine. For side sleepers, putting a pillow between your knees can give your back some relief.

Work Your Core

Whether you work out or not, strengthening your core is important for overall back health. Integrating some abdominal workouts into your routine will help with core strength, which will reduce back spasms throughout the night.
