Your Back Deserves Better Than Persistent Back Cracking

Stretching

Cracking your back every so often isn’t necessarily bad for you, but this is not something we recommend on a regular basis. That familiar ‘popping’ noise after cracking your back can be satisfying, but there are much easier things you can do to feel fresh when you are suffering from muscle stiffness.

Stretch Those Muscles

Stretching takes minimal effort but pays huge dividends. If you can devote 15 minutes per day to stretching out your body, you can avoid many common ailments of the body. While I endorse yoga, you don’t have to be a yogi to reap the benefits. Stretching helps increase flexibility. It also improves posture and reduces the risk of injury.

Exercise Frequently

Once we get older and have kids, it’s much harder for us to play pick-up basketball or join recreational softball or soccer leagues on a regular basis. Especially in the summer months, take a stroll in the neighborhood or go for a swim. Staying active is beneficial in preventing back pain and discomfort. If you are a member at a gym, make it a point to get in there at least three times a week. You can change up what you do there, so it doesn’t get monotonous. The point is to stay active!

See a Specialist

Ice and Ibuprofen are great temporary options to relieve pain. But don’t make it a routine. If your body is becoming stiff from inactivity or you are experiencing pain while exercising, the best thing you can do for your body is call an expert.
