Attention Employers: Surgery Isn’t the Only Option

Lower Your Workers’ Comp Costs By Getting Employees the Right Treatment

Whether your workplace is an office setting or a warehouse, employees are subject to being injured on the job. Frequently, when they are suffering from overexertion or reaction injuries, people believe that surgery is the only way to get their body working properly again. However, this isn’t the case. There are alternatives to surgery that can heal your body in a matter of weeks, cutting down on costs and lowering the risk of complications.

A Case Study

We recently helped heal Tim, a 49-year-old firefighter who came into our office with an injured rotator cuff. His shoulder was hurt on the job – he was pulling a hose when it got caught on a bolt in the ground and jerked his right shoulder backward suddenly. He felt the tear, and immediate pain. Tim came to Next Level Wellness looking for a pre-surgery strengthening program. He was experiencing constant pain, especially with certain movements and during sleep, and felt like surgery was his only option.

But it wasn’t.

Tim was scheduled for SLAP surgery repair, but ended up walking away from our office with a completely healed shoulder and no need for surgery. Using our innovative treatment protocol called Fascial Integrative Treatment, or F.I.T., we were able to address and heal the muscles in the rotator cuff, neck, and shoulder, leading to a full recovery.

F.I.T. is an advanced soft-tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, nerves and joints. It is a manual hands-on therapy that corrects the dysfunctions that these soft-tissues can undergo. When you are injured, scar tissue adhesions can accumulate in your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. This kind of build up occurred around the tear in Tim’s shoulder, but it can be the result of any type of strain you put on your body, from slouching at your desk to carrying heavy objects. When this build up of scar tissue goes unaddressed, the result is pain, discomfort and lack of mobility.

By using F.I.T. on Tim’s shoulder, our chiropractors were able to break up those restrictive adhesions, re-instate normal tissue flexibility, and restore balance and stability to the injured area, allowing the tear in his rotator cuff to heal.

After only nine visits with our doctors, Tim told us that he felt 50% improvement and was no longer in pain when he used his shoulder. After a few weeks, his strength returned and increased.  When the treatment was complete, Tim returned to work and continues to work with no restrictions or pain.

The Cost of Surgery Avoided

On average, labram tear repair surgery costs anywhere from $17,000-20,000 with temporary disability of about 24-36 weeks. If an employee is injured on the job, these costs can quickly add up for the employer. But there is a better way. Many workplace injuries can be treated using methods that are less costly and less time consuming, but just as effective (if not more effective!).

Exploring alternative treatments is beneficial for the employee, and for the company’s bottom line. If you’d like more information about the types of workplace injuries that can be treated using F.I.T. and other modalities, please contact us  or call 949-263-9003.

We also offer a free treatment for all Wellness Coordinators so that you can experience the benefits of F.I.T. for yourself!
