How To Relieve Your Back Pain At Work

Back Pain

Sitting at a desk all day can put strain on your back muscles, which can create discomfort and injuries over time. If you’re having trouble finding the right position or have been experiencing lower back pain, our Next Level Wellness team of chiropractors can help. Here are a few steps you can take to help relieve back pain.

Keep Your Head Up

With the use of smart phones and laptops, it’s become easy to get in the habit of looking down. However, this puts immense strain on your neck and spine, which can cause pain in your back. If you use a laptop at work, be sure to raise it to eye level with a computer stand. If you use a desktop, adjust your chair so that you can comfortably look at your screen without having to look up or down. When your neck is properly aligned with your spine, your muscles are well supported.

Choose Your Chair Wisely

The right chair can make the biggest difference. First and foremost, your office chair should provide you with plenty of back support. Be sure that your lower back can rest against a lumbar support and that you’re be able to tilt back very slightly. As you tire throughout the day, your chair should be comfortable enough to maintain this position without you having to slouch or lean forward.

Breathe Deeply

This is a simple yet effective method for strengthening your core muscles to help you sit up straighter. Each time you inhale; think about drawing your navel towards your spine. This will engage your core and help support your entire upper body.
