3 Habits To Keep You Healthy At Work
Just as our obligations and responsibilities to our careers stay center of mind, we shouldn’t forget that wellness is a big part of being a productive employee.
Whether it is ensuring that you are properly nourished, or that you take short walk breaks, or you seat yourself with the best posture, there are numerous things you can do to improve and maintain wellness at the office. Even if you have never visited an Irvine chiropractor, the Next Level Wellness team has tips that can help with your wellness.
Snack On Healthy Foods
Just because your boss loads up the office pantry with Doritos doesn’t mean you need to help yourself. If you have a say in what your office administrator buys on the next Costco run, ask for healthier snacks like almonds or fruit. Fueling your body with the right nutrients will keep you more alert and help with your productivity. Here’s another thing, drink lots of water. The other doctors here and I always are carrying around a water jug. You’d be surprised at home many patients I see that have low hydration levels.
Stand Up And Stretch Those Legs
We are all busy, and sometimes we can fall into that trap of sitting at our desks for way too long. While your boss might be happy, your body will not be so pleased. Sitting for long periods of time can have a damaging effect on your muscles and blood flow. I’m not asking you to blast out a 5K in between meetings, but get up, go outside, and give it a once around the building.
You’ll take in some fresh air, and stretch out all of the muscles that have sat locked in place for hours!
Sit Properly
If you don’t have the luxury of having a desk that transforms from seated to standing, have no fear.
The key is that you are seated firmly in your chair and not on the edge. Make sure you take advantage of the back support of your chair. Also, avoid hunching over your computer. Sit the proper distance away so you aren’t stretching to reach your keyboard, or you aren’t too close and slouching over things.
I can tell you, this is a recipe for lower back pain if you don’t sit properly.
