Workplace Injuries
There's no arguing that computers are a necessity in today's business world, but, unfortunately, they are also a potential liability.
An increase in computer usage and time spent sitting at a desk has lead to an increase in muscle aches/pains characterized as R.S.I. or repetitive stress injury. As we type throughout the day, our hand muscles are busy hitting keys and moving the mouse, causing excessive wear and tear on those muscles. All of this stress can lead to microtrauma, small injuries that can get worse over time. Because these small injuries are not as noticeable at first, you will frequently reinjure yourself.
The three most common types of pain that occur in the workplace are:
Wrist pain
Low back pain
Neck/shoulder pain
The body responds to these microtraumas by forming fibrous adhesions, or scar tissue in the muscle, between muscle groups and between the tendons, nerves and ligaments. These fibrous adhesions limit the range of motion of muscles and joints. This can lead to more inflammation and the pattern becomes a vicious cycle of long-term wear and tear.
What were once just minimal, dull aches can progress into:
Headaches
Rotator cuff disorders
Sciatica
Carpal tunnel syndrome
“Nearly two-thirds of all occupational illnesses reported were caused by exposure to repeated trauma to workers’ upper body (wrist, elbow or shoulder).
-U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics”

Each chiropractor in our Irvine office provides therapeutic rehabilitation to help identify inefficient or problematic actions and motions of the body. Once our chiropractor has diagnosed the problematic motion or tendency, he will prescribe “blueprint” exercises, corrective exercises, and stretching techniques for the patient.
These exercises and stretches can be performed at a patient’s home and will enable the patient to recover and prevent future issues. By combining chiropractic care, physical therapy, and massage therapy, our office is able to help patients in Costa Mesa, Irvine and Newport Beach recover from injuries quicker, prevent future issues, and reduce or eliminate pain.
