3 Desk Exercises To Keep Your Body Moving

Exercise

Our bodies were made to move. When we sit in one position for too long, it can affect our health, muscles, and joints. If you’re sitting at a desk all day at work, you should always find ways to walk or move around. If you can’t step away from your computer, consider trying one of these exercises at your desk:

Modified Football Drill

While you’re seated, pump both of your arms over your head for 30 seconds. Then rapidly tap your feet on the floor, football drill-style, for the same amount of time. By doing this for about 3-4 reps, you’ll get your heart rate up, loosen your muscles, and promote blood circulation.

Push-Ups

Your back and arms undergo a lot of stress throughout the day as you type for hours on end. To help relieve some of this stress, try doing a few reps by using your desk.

First, you’ll want to be sure that your desk is sturdy enough and can support your weight. Then, standing up, put your hands on your desk and walk backwards until you’re in a slanted, push-up position. Doing even a few reps will give you a full body workout.

Elevated Child’s Pose

Similar to push-ups, this exercise move will work both your arms and back. It will also stretch your back, which helps promote healing and can ease any muscle pain or discomfort you feel during the day.

Place your hands firmly on your desk. Then slowly push your chair back until your head is between your arms and you’re looking at the floor. Slowly pull yourself back in and do about 15 reps.

Being in an office all day shouldn’t mean that your body experiences adverse affects.  Even the smallest preventative measure can make the biggest difference. If you’ve been experiencing muscle and joint pain at work, let us help heal you.
